Memories from the past

A water taxi driver who brought us around Kg Ayer in 2003.

Shot whilst picking up my niece from St. Andrews a few years ago.

Shot whilst waiting for my wife at Guan Chuan some time ago

Taken by a friend with my camera of me and a japanese friend when I was studying in Milan, Italy.

Girl

Taken during a meeting with fellow photogs in BSB. Scanned from Fuji Superia 400 with Coolscan V ED. Too many to scan and post.. so only the most interesting one. I actually stopped her on the street for a pic and she and her friend was kind enough to pose. Unfortunately, her friend's pic was overblown from the flash of another photog.

Best?

Someone from Brunei posted.. from someone's fotopages....
"and for DC, you and some others might think that you're the best wedding photographer in Brunei, but reality check, no one is the best and they're always people better than you and he/she might not be a Bruneian." - Tue 12-Jun-2007 15:39

Assumptions. I don't think I have ever in my life ever said I was the best at anything. People like this like to jump to their own conclusions. I believe there other forms of exercise that's good for health other than 'jumping to conclusions.'

As for what others think, its up to people to decide just as its up to you to decide who or what is best for you. I would never tell you what is best for you. You have to decide that for yourself and apparently you have. So peace!

PS. I have already left this issue to be taken up by my countrymen/women ;) and my loyalty will always be to my own nationals. And please dont turn this round. I have nothing whatsoever against people from other countries. My responsibility will always be to my own people.

A change in direction

A little announcement.. I've decided not to open that studio just yet (maybe next year).. Reason: I'm going into motion.. not permanently or exclusively but as an additional. Everyone now is offering studio pictures with their weddings.. most are offering preweds... all pictures..

Hehe. As you all know, I'm one for innovation.. something different.. well.. for the new brides of David Cheok Photography until end 2007, your prewedding will now be in motion. I have recently decided to acquire a professional camcorder that is capable of doing that things I can do on my stills.. and I intend to push the level of weddings one step further. No.. I will not shoot events just yet.. just preweds.. however, preweds will now have to be pushed up earlier due to the extended processing time of video. At the moment, there are no changes to the rates for those booking now until 31 Aug 2007. I am going to keep the rates the same for now as I am still on a new learning curve extending my skillsets. So those who are on my usual package, expect something different with your motion picture video DVDs :)

Expect something different but expect the best.

Rgds,
David

FS: Sony HDR-HC3E

I have one of these for sale. Rarely used. Originally bought to capture video of my son but I seem to grab my still camera more. Bought for $2688. Comes with one battery but I bought two more high capacities ones. Original box and stuff still here. If I remember correctly, I've used it exactly 6 times. Anyway, letting go for $1800 for all the batteries. Also have a wide-angle conversion adapter lens. This is a HD videocamera so its not for the faint hearted. Contact me to view. Price is non-negotiable as I've already discounted lots for a quick sale.

Items included:
Batteries
1) Sony NP-FP70 (Battery)
2) Sony NP-FP60
3) Sony NP-FP50
4) Sony HVL-HL1 (Video Light)
5) Sony MemStickPro Duo 2GB
6) Sony VCL-0630X (Wide Angle Conversion)

Memories of a working photographer

For the amount of faces we see every week, the number of new people we meet, life as a photographer can be hard and embarrassing too. OMG! Today, I called someone I met several weddings ago a name that belong to someone else. That was sooo embarassing. Really sorry Nikki. I seriously must hire a personal assistant to follow me round and remind me who is who. I was talking to Mok (the famous hairstylist) about this. Heheh. Apparently he too has the same problem. I guess it is not just happening to us Photogs. I'm going to take this time to apologise to all the beautiful ladies whom I may have not recognised or those who I do recognise but cannot remember names. I wonder how many of you have this issue?

Discussion now over - CS Brunei

These posts and comments have been archived. They have not been deleted so can be recalled if necessary. I believe I have put my point across. The next move is CS Brunei. I hope we can work something out that is beneficial to both our nations.
